THE STENOSIS

The stenosis are constriction that obstruct the normal blood flow. They usually involve the cardiac valves but can be subvalvular localized in the ventricle or supravalvular localized in the artery over the valve. Some stenosis can involve the arteries far from the valves as it happen in the coarctation of the aorta. The main consequence of a stenosis is that the ventricle should increase its pressure to pump the blood through the stenosis.
